Gemma has been a wedding planner for 17 years, so it was very natural for her to open this business to accompany her wedding planning organisation. The items sold by this company have been, and have always been, in very high demand, which explains the success in this story.
Entrepreneurship has always been in Gemma’s spirit, she was employed for a long time after leaving university but she was left with a lot of freedom to run the business by herself. It was very organic when she decided to open her own wedding planning company, and the event stylist side of things simply reflects the natural growth from ambition and hard work.
One tough part about this type of business is the seasonality of it. Income is very seasonal and winter/cold times can sometimes be difficult for wedding planners or suppliers. If there was something they would have done differently, it would have been simple: MAKE MORE! It took some time to experiment with different products and packages, but they realised that linen was by far the best seller. With this information, making lots more linen could have made the business even more successful, from the start. That being said, every business must experiment before focusing more-so on one product.
