Greetings everyone, we hope everyone is enjoying their day and staying productive as the year goes forward. Today, we have something special for you, a young talent from Exeter whose specialty is personal training, physical preparedness, injury rehab… the whole lot. Our interviewee is called Alex Montgomery, he is a sole trader and a master’s student in physical therapy. He helps individuals reach their health & fitness goals thanks to personalised programs and one-on-one training sessions. Now, let’s learn a bit more about Alex’s background.
For a long time, Alex has been very interested in sports and movement, whether it be at school or on the football ground, as this is his chosen sport. He never lost interest, which is obvious when we see that he studied sports in college and went on to study sports and exercise science in university. Logically, the next step was to start a career in health & fitness to share this talent with the world, or at least Exeter, for now. Alex would love to grow his business, when he finishes his degree this year, there will be much more time to invest in his business, helping more and more people as time goes by. Long term, Alex would like to operate from the comfort of his own facility, with his name on the front of it, members of staff who share his level of expertise, and a greatly respected and recognised brand.
Seeing as he is one himself, this advice is very valuable. We are going to give you a direct quote here: “It’s going to take time, if you go in half-hearted, it may never happen if you’re not truly invested. If that is what you're passionate about, then go for it and assess it further down the line”
This is some amazing advice and it’s very direct, straight to the point and it’s what any young person wanting to start their own business needs to hear.
Alex explained to us that it can sometimes be hard in this niche, where people share so much content across social media platforms, like Youtube and Instagram. There is so much information readily available that from time to time, or quite often in fact, the public will question personal trainers and seek information online. The danger with this is misinformation, influencers who are not qualified but are “big and strong” possess a lot of power, and their words will affect opinions drastically. So, today’s interviewee had to overcome this, he doesn’t claim to be the biggest or the strongest, but he accepts that and is confident with the vast amount of knowledge he has. Luckily, the reviews and feedback he gets make this quite obvious, knowledge is king in this industry.
This will have to be a big yes, science and professionalism are something we put first, and this personal trainer definitely ticks these boxes.
