Rise and shine, it’s time for a new story. Today, we’ll be telling you about one of Exeter’s most talented individuals - Mat Askham.
He owns and runs a company called Peck & Chisel, they offer a variety of services, such as kitchen designs, bespoke furniture and even charming little wooden gifts.
Mat’s background is quite inspiring, his business really kicked off when he travelled to the South of France almost 20 years ago, to fit a kitchen for an existing customer. From this moment, building bespoke kitchens and furniture was the main focus for today’s interviewee.
I was lucky enough to visit Mat’s workshop, in the most beautiful location you could ask to work from, right on the Quays of Exeter. You can’t put a price on working in a place with this kind of view.
But it turns out, this workshop has much more in store. Soon enough, n°16 the Quays will also be a showroom where you’ll be able to admire Mat’s best work and talk with him about your projects, whether it be a new kitchen or an unseen piece of furniture for your home.
Keep an eye out, because this company wants to expand, taking their work to the next level and planning to accomplish very impressive things!
Every detail is taken into account, if the wood is not perfect, it gets sent back. Every step of the process is executed with passion and precision. Basically, the quality on offer here is something else, you will struggle to find such high quality anywhere near Exeter. This makes Mat and his business very special, it also explains why his customers come back so much, wanting more of his talented work.
Speaking to Mat at his workshop and seeing some of his work made writing this article quite fun. If you were to see the location, you would understand - it's amazing. The reviews we have seen have all been very positive and we would struggle to find anything bad to say about this company. This is why we highly recommend Peck & Chisel for any work related to kitchens or furniture, especially if you are close to Exeter.
