Today we will dive into the new and growing business in Exeter called pomsxdaxies, directed by Tina Allen, who I was lucky enough to interview last week.
The Story
Tina has always had a passion for dogs and breeding, she recently got intrigued with the fertility side of the industry such as artificial insemination, scanning etc…
Her clinic opened this April and is a K9 fertility clinic, it serves Exeter, Topsham, Taunton, Dawlish, Exmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay and any other areas surrounding Exeter. She currently runs the clinic by herself but she has goals to open another clinic in the future, when she can train members of staff to a very professional level, therefore assisting her to expand her business.
In the past, Tina already had experience with dog breeding, so opening a clinic was no problem for her, it happened very “naturally”. She started experimenting with new breads and found it very interesting. It took her 12 months to fully qualify for her current position, we find this very important and have a lot of respect for Tina as many people attempt these practices with no experience, and things can go terribly wrong. It’s very nice to see someone who is playing by the rules and really has your pet’s best interest in mind. This is something that encouraged Tina to start working in this field, like many others, she had had enough of seeing unqualified breeders doing this in very wrong ways.
It takes a lot to take on a business, the entrepreneur spirit is more than essential to succeed in this type of world. Tina has always been ambitious and had the entrepreneur mindset, she seems to be en route for a path of success. Some individuals attempted to knock Tina down when she first started, sending hate messages, threats and trying to break her business apart, but she didn’t let that happen, she powered through and is now in a great place with her clinic, taking no notice of the haters who don’t appreciate her hard work and perfectionism.
Pomsxdaxies would give this advice to any young entrepreneur, just starting off : “Stick to your dream, if you know what you want to do, do it, you’re going to have hard times and hit barriers where you think: “is it worth it? but you have got to push through and try to make it work, if it doesn’t, what have you lost? You tried your hardest.” This is some great advice that was really inspiring!
